Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party

One of my favorite times of year at Disney is during the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party! Clearly if you haven't guessed by now I am a true Disney fanatic and love taking my children to Disney World multiple times a year. It helps that I have family that live in the Orlando area, so it's my excuse to go, but the main reason is because my children absolutely love it. Honestly each time I go I learn or see something new so it’s always a fresh view on the park itself. Though I am not heading this year I figured I re-share our experience at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and what is new for this year.
Now I don't know if any of you remember I was originally going to attend the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party a couple years back, but due to a hurricane my flight was cancelled and Disney closed the parks. I can't even explain how bummed my daughter and I were, but I knew that I would make it happen and I am extremely happy I did. The reason I wanted to attend was my brother took my niece and from the videos and pictures I knew my daughter would enjoy it. I was smart and planned ahead, so plan to purchase Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party tickets in advance to save money! If you buy online in advance, you can save on each ticket, so I suggest doing so. Ticket prices increase as Halloween nears, and don’t be surprised,if the last two parties sell out first. There are no guarantees that tickets will be available at the gate on any party day, so I would suggest not waiting.
When you enter the Magic Kingdom, everyone is given a party wristband. Once inside, you can get a treat bag, you really can’t miss it, just follow the crowd. The first official treat stop is to your left as you enter Main Street USA, look for the tall Mickey balloons that say Treat on top. You and your kids get to trick-or-treat throughout the park and make sure to wear costumes because you will feel left out. It’s not mandatory but I feel like it makes the experience. It truly was fun to see all the costumes parents came up with, I loved it. My family and I chose Pinocchio and friends, well Annabelle chose the costumes and good old mommy got stuck with a hot fish costume. I would suggest bringing a change of clothes for the whole family. Since its late night I had the kids pjs in my diaper bag and changed right out of the costumes so I wasn’t struggling with a cranky child back at the hotel. I made the mistake of not reserving a place to eat so if you do want a sit-down dinner call ahead of time, I know better and honestly it was just a mommy fluke. Overall the experience was amazing and I plan on doing it again.
This year Magic Kingdom Parks extended the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party from, Aug. 16 – Nov. 1 So if you are preparing a trip through this time keep in mind you will be kicked out of the park if you do not have a party ticket. This after-hours ticketed event for me and my family was well worth the trip and guaranteed to make for great memories for you and your family. The party is family-friendly as only Disney can do and appropriate for children of all ages. Dress-up is encouraged for ages 13 and under. Theme park rules for costume look and guest safety can be found at DisneyWorld.com/Halloween. Lucky for me my brother and sister-in-law informed of some tricks, like you can get into the park as early as 4pm so make sure to head there at that time. Once normal Disney ticket holders start to leave at 7pm head to some rides as they will empty out. Also there are Halloween themed merchandise available for purchase at the Emporium, Big Top Souvenirs, Frontier Trading Post and Mickey’s Star Traders so if you want cute Disney bags you can find them there. My best advice is to decide in advance what things you want to do and do them first, Make sure to grab a party map as you enter for character & dance party times and locations. Admission for select nights to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party starts at $85 per person ages 10+, $80 ages 3-9. Hours 7 pm-midnight. Below I listed things I think you must see. Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular. Hosted by the Sanderson Sisters, a trio of witch sisters from Disney’s film Hocus Pocus which was a favorite of mine as a kid. The sisters are joined by dancers, more Disney Villains and visual effects that will transport you into a world of fright. This takes place at Cinderella Castle Forecourt Stage. Make sure to arrive early if you want front row seats.
Happy HalloWishes. Probably my favorite part of the whole experience was the Fireworks. This fireworks display is given high above the Cinderella Castle. I loved that they used all Disney Villians in this show Guests are encouraged to sing along with some of the most infamous Disney Villains, including Cruella de Vil, Jafar and Oogie Boogie. Creepy colors crawl over the castle, a spell is cast and it’s every guest for themselves.It truly is an amazing show that you must see in person
Mickey’s “Boo-to-You” Halloween Parade. So, I thought this was amazing and I suggest you arrive early and park your tush on the curb so you can get front row seats to this fantastic parade. It's Led by the Headless Horseman, which Annabelle was amazed to see. All your favorite Disney characters dress up for the occasion and cool floats bring you into the Halloween spirit. There was a section where men dressed as zombies are dancing and have shovels that scrape the cement and fill the air with sparks that gave me a jump, lol but still fun to watch.
Cadaver Dans Barbershop Quartet is a cute little show to watch and can be seen in front of Frontierland.
